RAWS falls under the Texas Public Information Act (PIA) which provides a mechanism for citizens to inspect or copy government records. It also provides that governmental bodies may withhold government records from the public in specific instances.
RAWS also falls under the jurisdiction of the Texas Open Meetings Act what constitutes reasonable notice and the application of the Act to informal gatherings, permissible subjects for closed meetings/executive sessions, attendance issues at matters and handling of agendas, etc. appropriate handling of a certified agenda.
The Board of Directors endeavors to follow the letter and law of the Texas PIA and OMA, and all Board members are required to complete the required OMA training within 90 days of taking office, and additionally several directors have also completed the PIA training offered by the Texas Attorney General's Office.
